During this time great britain just got done with the French and Indian war and needed money so they looked at the one place under their full control. To make money they went to the american colonies and had them pay larger tax amounts by having things like the Sugar Act, the Stamp Act and other ways to tax them. The colonist thought that this was harsh, unfair that Great Britain would tax them like that and then not tax anyone in Britain, so basically they felt as if they should be treated better. Also that they should have the same rights as an Englishman did because they were no different. The rights that they wanted was really to be a part of the government and have a say in what happens especially when the war before was really not their idea. So in a small conclusion of this paragraph is that the war began as a disagreement over the way in which Great Britain treated the colonies versus the way the colonies felt they should be treated.
